'A Tall Tale'
Small Gallery, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

“Painting is an illustion, a piece of magic, so what you see is not what you see.”
This body of work has been influenced by the idea of the tall tale, a story with unbelievable elements, related as if it were true and factual. Some stories such as these are exaggerations of actual events. Of particular interest to me is the act of passing down family history through the tradition of storytelling. These stories over time become exaggerated and embellished, characters become larger than life and the line between what is fact and what is fiction blurred. It is within that blur that I find my inspiration.
